About Gorey Christ Church
Gorey Christ Church dates from 1861. It has a cruciform plan under a pitched slate roof. Notable features include a four-stage tower, stained-glass windows, crenellated parapets and buttressed walls.
History
Joseph Welland, Architect to the Ecclesiastical Commissioners, designed the church. It opened in 1861 and was consecrated in 1862, replacing an earlier church. The interior also retains memorial material, including wall monuments and a west window erected in memory of the fourth Earl of Courtown.
