About Ferns St Edan
Ferns St Edan was built between 1816 and 1817. It has a simple single-cell form, built of rubble stone under a pitched slate roof. Notable features include a three-stage tower, stained-glass windows, an internal gallery and crenellated parapets.
Notable features
The cathedral contains an effigy variously cited as Saint Aidan or Bishop John St John. Wall monuments are signed by John Smyth and Joseph Robinson Kirk. Stained glass includes the 1902 Jervis-White Memorial Window by Heaton, Butler and Bayne and the 1931 Gibson Memorial Window by An Túr Gloine. A 1918 reredos depicts The Last Supper. The roof was restructured in 1901-2 to a design by James Franklin Fuller.
