About Churchnof the Sacred Heart, Lisvernane
Churchnof the Sacred Heart, Lisvernane was built around 1835. It has a cruciform plan with a four-bay nave, built of squared limestone under a pitched slate roof. Notable features include a bell tower, stained-glass windows, an internal gallery and a marble altar.
Notable features
The interior has an exposed timber scissors-truss roof and patterned floor tiling. A carved timber gallery is reached by a cast-iron spiral staircase, while a single marble column supports paired chamfered Tudor arches at the junctions with the transepts.
