About Church of the Sacred Heart, Golden
Church of the Sacred Heart, Golden was built in 1820. It has a cruciform plan with a three-bay nave and rendered walls under a pitched artificial slate roof. Notable features include stained-glass windows, a bellcote and an internal gallery.
The building
Rose windows occupy the gables, with square-headed openings at the sides of the chancel. The interior retains a timber-panelled barrel ceiling and marble altar furniture, while the site boundary uses rendered piers and plinths with decorative cast-iron railings and gates.
