About Church of the Immaculate Conception, Brooklodge
Church of the Immaculate Conception, Brooklodge was built in 1949. It has an eight-bay nave and rendered walls under a pitched slate roof. Notable features include stained-glass windows, an internal gallery and a marble altar.
History
The building was constructed as a Franciscan monastery chapel. A lower four-bay, two-storey block dating from about 1850 survives to its south as the remaining part of the monastery, giving the church a physical link to the earlier complex.
