About Church of the Divine Mercy

Church of the Divine Mercy is a Roman Catholic parish church in Lucan, Co. Dublin. It is part of the Dublin Archdiocese.

History

Balgaddy lies on the border between Lucan and Clondalkin, in what was once the Royal Manor of Esker. It was part of the parish of Clondalkin, along with Lucan, until 1953, when Lucan became a parish in its own right and took Balgaddy with it. Before that the people of Balgaddy travelled to the church and schools in Lucan, and to the parish church at Clondalkin at Confirmation time.

In December 1995 the area of Balgaddy and much of Ballyowen was constituted as a parish in its own right, the parish of Divine Mercy, Lucan South, lying between Lucan and Clondalkin.
