About Church of the Assumption, Ballyphehane
Church of the Assumption, Ballyphehane was built between 1953 and 1956. It has a T-shaped plan with an eleven-bay nave. Notable features include a three-stage tower and stained-glass windows.
History
The church was one of the group known as the Rosary Churches, built in Cork's suburbs during the 1950s and 1960s under Bishop Cornelius Lucey. J. R. Boyd Barrett is identified as its architect.
