About Church of the Assumption
Church of the Assumption dates from 1828. It has a cruciform plan with a three-bay nave. Notable features include stained glass including a rose window, mosaic work and buttressed walls.
History
The church was erected under Reverend Edmond Prendergast. Lewis wrote that the late Colonel Pennefather had donated its roughly two-acre site. The openings originally had switch-track glazing, and the high roof formerly carried an array of pinnacles.
