About Church of St John the Baptist, Tyone
Church of St John the Baptist, Tyone is a Roman Catholic parish church in Nenagh, Co. Tipperary. It is part of the Killaloe Diocese.
History
The church was opened on the last Sunday of May 1970 and was designed by the architect Seamus Shesgreen. It stands on the grounds of the town's hospital, which the parish records as 34 years old at the time the church opened. Since 1970 it has served the people of Tyone, Ballygraigue and the wider parish. The parish records links with the Augustinian Abbey at Tyone, Nenagh Workhouse and the Sisters of Mercy.
