About Church of Our Lady of the Assumption, Tullyallen
Church of Our Lady of the Assumption, Tullyallen dates from 1898. The church is built of squared limestone under a pitched slate roof. Notable features include stained glass including a rose window, an internal gallery and pinnacles.
The building
The round-headed doorways have dressed-limestone relieving arches, block-and-start surrounds, roll-moulded reveals and hood mouldings. Inside, pointed arcades lead to the transepts, a polychrome-tiled central aisle runs beneath a trussed roof carried on stone corbels and columns, and exposed rafters remain visible.
