About Billis
Billis was built in 1844 in the Gothic Revival style. It has a four-bay nave, built of rubble stone. Notable features include a three-stage tower, stained-glass windows, an internal gallery and crenellated parapets. It was designed by Joseph Welland.
The building
Billis Church of Ireland church includes a single-bay north transept added c.1860, a vestry to the south of the nave, and a lower chancel. The structure features a pitched replacement slate roof with roll-mould ridge tiles and cut-stone barges. Recent roofing works raised the roof over cut-stone corbelled kneelers on all gables except the transept. A boiler house lean-to is located to the north of the transept.
