About Ballybay Christ Church
Ballybay Christ Church was built around 1800 in the Gothic Revival style. It has a cruciform plan and rendered walls under a pitched slate roof. Notable features include stained-glass windows, crenellated parapets and pinnacles. The transepts was added in 1822.
The building
This Church of Ireland church was funded by the Board of First Fruits. The chancel was added in 1881, featuring a carved sandstone arch with red marble colonettes. The interior contains polychrome tiled floors, stained glass, and carved timber pews. The structure sits in an elevated graveyard overlooking Ballybay.
