About Assumption, Callan
Assumption, Callan was built between 1836 and 1843 in the neo-Classical style. It has a simple single-cell form and rendered walls under a pitched slate roof. Notable features include a bell tower with a spire, stained-glass windows, an internal gallery and an organ.
Notable people
The church is attributed to John B. Keane, who died in 1859. The design recalls the work of William Farrell, who died in 1851, particularly his Christ Church in Belfast of 1833.
