About All Saints, Newtown
All Saints, Newtown was built in 1809. It has a simple single-cell form and rendered walls under a pitched slate roof. Notable features include stained-glass windows.
History
Built in 1809 by Reverend Forristal, All Saints is apparently the first post-Penal church in the parish of Callan. This early vintage predates Catholic Emancipation in 1829. The building was extensively renovated after 1965 following the Second Vatican Council, yet original composition attributes largely survive.
