History

St Tierney's Church was erected in 1837. It is named after St Tierney, also given as Tiarnach or Tighernach, of Clones.

The Parish of Roslea lies in two jurisdictions, Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland. Its second church is St Mary's, Magherarney, in the townland of Templetate at Smithborough, which was erected in 1859.
