About St Patricks Church, Ballydesmond
St Patricks Church, Ballydesmond was built around 1880. It has a seven-bay nave, built of squared limestone under a pitched slate roof. Notable features include stained-glass windows, a bellcote and an internal gallery.
The building
The main pointed-arch entrance has a limestone surround, hood moulding and trefoil detailing to the voussoirs, with double-leaf timber-battened doors. Holy-water stoups with chamfered surrounds flank it, while a side porch has a square-headed doorway with a chamfered limestone surround.
