About St. Patrick’s Church, Aughagower
St. Patrick’s Church, Aughagower dates from 1952. It has a cruciform plan with a two-bay nave under a pitched slate roof. Notable features include a three-stage tower, stained-glass windows and an internal gallery.
History
A date stone is marked 1824, and the twentieth-century church may retain at least the shell of a small thatched building from that year. Wall monuments commemorate Reverend Patrick O’Malley, who died in 1835, and Reverend Thomas Gibbons, who died in 1859.
