About St. Mary's, Staghall Church
St. Mary's, Staghall Church was built around 1850 in the Gothic Revival style. It has a five-bay nave, built of squared sandstone under a pitched slate roof. Notable features include a bell tower, stained-glass windows, a bellcote and an internal gallery. The chancel was added in 1870.
History
The site was donated by Lord Lanesborough. Construction began at the onset of the Great Famine and could not be completed until the early 1850s, providing a more specific sequence for the building campaign than the approximate date alone.
