About St. Mary's Church, Carrigkerry
St. Mary's Church, Carrigkerry dates from 1878. It has a single-cell plan with a four-bay nave, built of squared limestone under a pitched slate roof. Notable features include stained-glass windows, buttressed walls and lancet windows.
The building
St Mary's Church is a freestanding gable-fronted structure with a lower gabled chancel to the south and a gabled sacristy to the west. The exterior features dressed snecked limestone walls, cut limestone buttresses, and triple lancet openings with shared hoodmouldings terminating in carved stops. Interior elements include timber trusses in the nave, decorative plasterwork in the chancel ceiling, and timber confessionals to the north.
