About St. Mary's Church, Ballinrobe
St. Mary's Church, Ballinrobe was completed in 1859. It has a cruciform plan with a four-bay nave. Notable features include a three-stage tower with an octagonal spire, stained-glass windows, an internal gallery and an organ.
History
Construction began in 1849; the church was unfinished in 1854, completed in 1859 and dedicated in 1863. It was extended in 1888, improved in 1895 and extended again in 1923–24. The sanctuary was reordered during a 1967 renovation, and restoration work was under way in 2010–11.
