About St. Mary Star of the Sea
St. Mary Star of the Sea is a Roman Catholic parish church in Sandymount, Co. Dublin. It is part of the Dublin Archdiocese.
History
The parish was constituted in 1876 to meet the needs of a growing population in Sandymount and Irishtown. The foundation stone of the church was laid in August 1851. The church was designed by J. J. McCarthy, of the Pugin neo-Gothic school.
