About St. Laurence's Church,, Ballinroad
St. Laurence's Church,, Ballinroad dates from 1804. It has a cruciform plan with a two-bay nave under a pitched slate roof. Notable features include stained-glass windows, a bellcote and an internal gallery.
The building
The detached four-bay double-height structure features roughcast battered walls on a rendered base. The entrance front includes a rendered, ruled and lined buttressed breakfront with a gabled bellcote at the apex. Interior elements comprise a choir gallery on cast-iron pillars, cruciform-detailed timber pews, and wall monuments dated 1856 and 1872. The sanctuary was reordered with a timber altar, and part of the timber roof construction remains exposed on ogee corbels.
