About St. John the Baptist, Ballaghkeene (Oulart)
St. John the Baptist, Ballaghkeene (Oulart) was built between 1949 and 1951. It has an eight-bay nave under a pitched slate roof. Notable features include stained glass including a rose window, a bellcote and an internal gallery.
The building
The east entrance has a pointed-arch doorway approached by two precast-concrete steps. Its drag-edged block-and-start surround has chamfered, rebated reveals and a hood moulding, framing diagonal timber-boarded or tongue-and-groove panelled double doors.
