About St Columba’s, Carrick
St Columba’s, Carrick was built around 1853. It has a five-bay nave, built of rubble sandstone. Notable features include a three-stage tower, stained-glass windows, an internal gallery and a marble altar.
History
The church was altered around 1900, including work to the tower. A Caen-stone reredos was added in 1883 and attributes its design to architect George Coppinger Ashlin, who lived from 1837 to 1921.
