About St. Brendan, Tiernaur
St. Brendan, Tiernaur was built in 1918. It has a cruciform plan with a three-bay nave and rendered walls. Notable features include stained-glass windows and buttressed walls.
History
St Brendan in Tiernaur, Co. Mayo, was built in 1918 and dedicated in 1921, replacing a lengthy barn chapel from 1810 condemned as damp after a report by Canon Michael McDonald. The structure was renovated in 1954 and reroofed in 2010. Its interior was later reordered to align with liturgical reforms from the Second Ecumenical Council of the Vatican, retaining Gothic-style timber stations from 1891 and a Classical-style confessional box.
