About St. Bartholomew's Church, Athea
St. Bartholomew's Church, Athea dates from 1832. It has a cruciform plan with a two-bay nave and rendered walls under a pitched artificial slate roof. Notable features include a three-stage bell tower with a spire, stained-glass windows, an internal gallery and a marble altar.
History
The site was donated by the Goolds, a prominent landlord family. The entrance gates were subsequently donated by Archdeacon Gould in 1864.
