About Sacred Heart, Ferrybank
Sacred Heart, Ferrybank was built in 1904 in the Gothic Revival style. It has a five-bay nave, built of squared limestone under a pitched slate roof. Notable features include a three-stage tower with a broach spire, stained-glass windows, an internal gallery and crenellated parapets.
History
The building developed in stages: the tower and spire were associated with Pugin and Ashlin, while the later nave was built to Ashlin's designs in the 1880s. The work replaced or incorporated the earlier church on the site.
