About Sacred Heart Church, Drinagh
Sacred Heart Church, Drinagh was built in 1932. It has a cruciform plan with a five-bay nave and rendered walls under a pitched slate roof. Notable features include stained-glass windows, a bellcote and a marble altar.
The building
The exterior draws on Romanesque forms through round-headed arches, stout columns and chevron ornament. The entrance porch is framed by paired marble columns and a mosaic tympanum, while the roof includes bands of fish-scale slates and cast-iron cresting.
