About Sacred Heart and St. Brigid
Sacred Heart and St. Brigid was built between 1869 and 1872 in the Gothic Revival style. It has a seven-bay nave, built of limestone. Notable features include stained glass including a rose window, an internal gallery and buttressed walls.
Notable features
The main entrance has a carved stone doorcase with polished marble colonettes and a foliate capital. Inside, the side-aisle arcade is carried on polished marble columns with foliate capitals, and a cast-iron spiral staircase gives access to the gallery.
