About Our Lady of Mount Carmel, Muff

Our Lady of Mount Carmel, Muff was built in 1858 in the Gothic Revival style. It has a three-bay nave and rendered walls. Notable features include a bell tower, stained-glass windows, an internal gallery and buttressed walls.

History

Our Lady of Mount Carmel in Muff, Co. Cavan, was built in 1858, replacing an earlier T-plan church dating from 1787. The Gothic Revival structure was constructed under the supervision of Fr. O’Reilly. A cast-iron belfry was erected to the south c.1910, and the chancel features figurative stained glass from the Harry Clarke Studios dating from c.1970.
