About Kilkeel Christ Church
Kilkeel Christ Church is a Church of Ireland church in Kilkeel, County Down. It is in the Diocese of Down & Dromore.
History
The present church in Kilkeel was consecrated in 1818. By 1837 the building required reroofing. The gallery was lowered in 1853 to give extra seating, and a new gallery was erected along with a south transept in 1857/8. The north transept dates from 1886 and the apsidal chancel from 1903.
The Pratt Memorial Hall at Carginagh was built in 1889 in memory of Revd E. O'B Pratt, rector of Kilkeel from 1883 to 1887. A suite of halls and rooms at Christ Church was completed in 1991.
