About Dublin St Michan
Dublin St Michan dates from 1685. It has a cruciform plan, built of rubble limestone under a pitched slate roof. Notable features include a bell tower, stained-glass windows, crenellated parapets and window tracery.
Notable people
Irish statesman Edmund Burke was baptised at Saint Michan's in 1729. The church vaults contain the remains of the Hamilton, Putland, Leitrim and Sheares families. The decorated organ was built by John Baptiste Cuvillie between 1723 and 1725. The wooden Organ Trophy, installed in 1724, is possibly carved by Henry Houghton or John Houghton.
