About Drumcannon Christ Church (Tramore)
Drumcannon Christ Church (Tramore) was built in 1851 in the Gothic Revival style. It has a cruciform plan with a three-bay nave, built of squared stone under a pitched slate roof. Notable features include a four-stage tower with a spire, stained-glass windows, an open timber roof and buttressed walls.
Notable people
The design of Drumcannon Christ Church is attributed to Abraham Denny (1820-1892). The church stands on the site of an earlier church. The grounds contain a freestanding limestone obelisk monument erected post-1816 to commemorate those who lost their lives in the Sea Horse tragedy of 1816. The graveyard also holds various cut-stone grave markers and mausolea dating from c.1800 to the present.
