About Croom
Croom was built around 1780 in the Early English Gothic style. It has a three-bay nave and rendered walls under a pitched slate roof. Notable features include a three-stage tower, stained-glass windows and crenellated parapets.
History
This Church of Ireland church was built c. 1780 as a Board of First Fruits structure. Samuel Johnson noted in 1837 that it stood on the western bank of the river Maigue and appeared to occupy the site of a larger building. The chancel was added in 1868 by architect James Edward Rogers, and stained glass windows dating to 1913-14 are attributed to artist Ethel Rhind.
