About Cloonclare (Manorhamilton)
Cloonclare (Manorhamilton) was built in 1783. It has a single-cell plan with a four-bay nave, built of limestone under a pitched slate roof. Notable features include a three-stage tower with a spire, pinnacles and lancet windows.
The building
The Church of Ireland church stands on the site of the Old Barracks Square, a star-shaped military fortification with bastions dating to c. 1700. Constructed in 1783, the structure features roughly dressed sandstone and limestone walls under a pitched slate roof with an ashlar sandstone chimneystack. A three-bay single-storey sexton's house is located to the south of the church entrance gates.
