About Church of the Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Derrinagree
Church of the Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Derrinagree dates from 1838. It has a five-bay nave and rendered walls under a pitched artificial slate roof. Notable features include stained-glass windows, carved Stations of the Cross and buttressed walls.
The building
The gable-front breakfront is apparently a later addition, featuring a remarkable Order arch doorway with finely crafted foliate details. A pointed arch window above includes a carved angel and ogee hood-moulding. The interior contains a hexagonal limestone baptismal font, a marble and brass altar under a segmental canopy, and wooden Stations of the Cross.
