About Church of the Assumption, (Loughill)
Church of the Assumption, (Loughill) was built in 1819 in the Romanesque Revival style. It has a cruciform plan and pebbledashed walls under a pitched copper roof. Notable features include a three-stage tower, stained-glass windows, an internal gallery and mosaic work.
History
The church stands on the site of an earlier Catholic church apparently dedicated to Saint Colmog. It occupies a prominent location along the main route through Loghill. A shrine dedicated to Our Lady of the Wayside is set into the north wall of the tower.
