About Church of Christ the King
Church of Christ the King was built between 1937 and 1939. It has a seven-bay nave under a pitched slate roof. Notable features include stained-glass windows, an internal gallery and lancet windows.
The building
Designed in 1936 by Ashlin and Coleman, the church features a rectilinear plan with a seven-bay nave and single-bay chancel. An octagonal spire-topped turret stands at the north-east corner. The exterior displays gritdashed roughcast walls with precast concrete dressings, while the interior includes a vaulted ceiling and an arcaded choir gallery. Stained glass windows, including the Kehoe Memorial Trinity Window, were supplied by Earley Studios Limited in 1939.
