About Bannow St Paul's (Balloughton)
Bannow St Paul's (Balloughton) was built between 1820 and 1822. It has a single-cell plan with a five-bay nave, built of rubble stone under a pitched slate roof. Notable features include a three-stage tower, stained-glass windows, crenellated parapets and pinnacles.
The building
This Church of Ireland building was erected with Board of First Fruits support and improved in 1874 in memory of Henry Holdsworth Hunt. The interior features an exposed timber roof, a Gothic-style pulpit, and wall monuments commemorating the Letts family. A stained glass North Window dated 1840 is attributed to M. and R. Sillery of Dublin.
