About Assumption, Ballyouskill
Assumption, Ballyouskill dates from 1822. It has a cruciform plan with a five-bay nave and rendered walls under a pitched slate roof. Notable features include stained-glass windows, a bellcote and an internal gallery.
The building
This detached seven-bay Catholic church on a cruciform plan was reconstructed in 1923, producing its present composition. The rendered walls feature pointed-arch window openings with cut-limestone sills and concealed dressings. The interior includes a perforated timber panelled choir gallery, Gothic-style timber stations, and a vaulted ceiling with plasterwork roses.
