About Templecarne (Pettigo)
Templecarne (Pettigo) was built around 1838. It has a five-bay nave and rendered walls under a pitched artificial slate roof. Notable features include stained-glass windows, a bellcote and window tracery. The church stands in its own graveyard.
Notable people
The church was designed by architect William Farrell, who served the Board of First Fruits and Ecclesiastical Commissioners. The Revd Philip Skelton, a noted writer and philanthropist, was rector at the earlier church on this site from 1750 to 1759. The 1968 stained glass window was designed by Shrigley and Hunt of Lancaster and commemorates the Barton family of Waterfoot House in Co. Fermanagh.
