About Swanlinbar St Augustine
Swanlinbar St Augustine was built in 1849 in the Gothic Revival style. It has a three-bay nave, built of sandstone under a pitched slate roof. Notable features include a three-stage tower, stained-glass windows, an internal gallery and crenellated parapets. It was designed by Joseph Welland.
The building
Designed by Joseph Welland, this Church of Ireland building features a three-bay nave and chancel flanked by vestry lean-tos. The interior contains timber queen-post trusses, a raised pew seating area with wainscot, and a rear gallery with three cross-braced bays. The site is set back from the road within a graveyard bounded by rubble stone walls and cast-iron gates.
