About Star of the Sea Church, Cromane
Star of the Sea Church, Cromane was built in 1897. It has a seven-bay nave, built of squared limestone. Notable features include stained-glass windows, a bellcote and an internal gallery.
The building
This freestanding gable-fronted Roman Catholic church features a seven-bay nave with flanking side aisles to the east and west. The structure is built of snecked limestone with concrete corner buttresses and string courses, topped by pitched and lean-to artificial slate roofs. Architectural details include a quatrefoil window in the south gable, paired lancets, and ogee, round, and trefoil windows with chamfered concrete surrounds.
