About St. Martin of Tours
St. Martin of Tours was built around 1550. It has a cruciform plan with a two-bay nave. Notable features include a four-stage tower, stained-glass windows, an internal gallery and crenellated parapets.
The building
This Catholic church was reconstructed in 1855, incorporating fabric from an 1804 chapel. The west tower is a c.1550 medieval tower house, apparently adapted from Ballyhale Castle, which now serves as a bell tower. The structure features a cruciform plan with a nave, transepts, and chancel. It was reroofed with slate before 1973. The interior contains carved timber Gothic-style stations, a panelled gallery, and stained glass.
