About St. Mark

St. Mark is a Roman Catholic parish church in Tallaght, Co. Dublin. It is part of the Dublin Archdiocese.

History

The parish was established in 1972, formed from the larger Tallaght/Bohernabreena parish. Before the present church was built, parishioners gathered in a temporary church on the site where the Scout Hall stands.

The Church of St Mark the Evangelist was blessed and opened by Dermot Ryan, Archbishop of Dublin. The parish records the opening date as 25 July 1975; a commemorative inscription reproduced on the parish history page gives Sunday 27 July 1975. The architect was Edward N. Smith and the builders were John J. Davitt and Sons.
