St. Brigid’s Church, Talbotstown

The building

The detached four-bay gable-fronted structure features a lower single-storey vestry projection and walls combining dressed granite, rubble, and render. Its south-facing front displays giant order pilasters and a tympanum gable, while a slated pitched roof is topped by an octagonal granite cupola with a cross finial. Inside, bare stone walls that were probably originally plastered surround a tiled floor, an elaborately painted Classical ceiling, a north Classical reredos, and a south gallery containing a Gothic style organ above c.1970s open bench pews.
