About Silverstream Priory

Silverstream Priory is a Roman Catholic parish church in Stamullin, Co. Meath. It is part of the Meath Diocese.

History

The monastery, under the patronage of Our Lady of the Cenacle, was founded in 2012 at the invitation of the Bishop of Meath and was canonically erected as an autonomous monastery of diocesan right in 2017. The community is one of Benedictine monks of perpetual adoration. It holds to the use of Latin and Gregorian chant, celebrating the Divine Office in its traditional Benedictine form and Mass in the Usus Antiquior of the Roman Rite.

Notable people

The priory takes its origin from the project of Abbot Celestino Maria Colombo (1874-1935), who sought to establish a house of Benedictine monks committed to ceaseless prayer before the Blessed Sacrament in a spirit of reparation. The monastery's own account traces that impetus to Catherine-Mectilde de Bar in the seventeenth century.
