About Saint Patrick
Saint Patrick is a Roman Catholic parish church in Ballynahinch, Co. Down. It is part of the Dromore Diocese.
History
St Patrick's Church, Ballynahinch was completed in 1812 and rededicated in 1843. The stone tower and the transepts were built in the 1860s.
During the 1980s and early 1990s the church and the whole church site were altered, in a scheme of renovation and extension. A parish centre was built alongside the church, new car parks were laid out and the cemetery was updated. The church was re-opened on 6 June 1993 by Bishop Francis Gerard Brooks, who described the renovated church and the adjoining buildings as "a symbol of the living community of Christ's followers".
The building
The church has a stone tower and transepts, both added in the 1860s to the building completed in 1812. A parish centre and car parks stand on the same site, along with a cemetery.
