About Kilbride St Bride (Doagh)
Kilbride St Bride (Doagh) is a Church of Ireland church in Kilbride, County Antrim. It is in the Diocese of Connor.
History
The present church was completed in 1868 and was dedicated to St Bride. Several earlier churches in the area had fallen into disrepair before that date, some of them in the townland of Kilbride. The parish covers many townlands, among them Kilbride, whose name means St Bride's Church. The church itself stands a few metres inside the boundary of the neighbouring townland of Ballyhamage rather than in Kilbride townland.
The parish's list of clergy records vicars of Donegore and Kilbride from 1622, and rectors of Kilbride Parish Church from 1864.
Notable features
The three windows in the west wall portray St Bride, flanked on either side by St Patrick and St Columba. The parish records that most of the church's stained glass was paid for by benefactors. The windows have been photographed and catalogued as part of a project to record details of all stained glass windows in every church on the island of Ireland.
