About Greenbank Presbyterian Church
Greenbank Presbyterian Church dates from 1862. The church is built of rubble stone under a pitched slate roof. Notable features include stained-glass windows and buttressed walls.
The building
Greenbank Presbyterian Church is a detached five-bay gable-fronted structure dated 1862, featuring a lean-to boiler house to the rear. The rubble stone walls exhibit slight battering at the base and are reinforced by diagonal buttresses on the front elevation. Architectural details include ashlar sandstone quoins, pointed-arch window openings with chamfered surrounds, and a quatrefoil window in the front gable. The site is bounded by a hedge with modern cast-iron gates and shares grounds with a lecture hall and gravemarkers.
